Lead City University VC, Prof Adeyemo lauds Iyalaje Oodua for partnership with GYLGF over Girl- Child ambition.
The Vice-Chancellor of Lead City University, Ibadan, Prof Kabiru Aderemi Adeyemo has commended Iyalaje Oodua, Princess Toyin Kolade for developing an innate interest in matters concerning the development of Girl - Child.
Prof Adeyemo made this remark in his opening speech at the 7th Annual International Interdisciplinary Conference, RAGA, 2021, (RAGA 2021) with the theme: “Gender and Power: Driving Force for Progress and Social Change or a Hindrance” held on Wednesday 13 September 2021 at International Conference Centre, Lead city Ibadan, Oyo State, where Iyalaje Oodua was the Special Guest of Honour.
Prof Adeyemo said that issues bordering on stereotyping and misconceptions about the fate of the Girl- Child would be quickly abated when cultural minds and traditional chieftains are deeply involved in awareness creation and public enlightenment on the issues
He lauded Iyalaje Oodua for not only partnering with RAGA but also participating actively at the ZOOM meeting organised on Tuesday 13 September by GYLGF to kick-start, 2021 Raise Girl's Ambition, RAGA, Conference.
He pointed out that Girl- Child issue is not only for academia but one which needs collaborative efforts on part of the academia and traditional public, a trend which Iyalaje Oodua has blazed forth.
In her welcome speech, the chief convener of Raise Girls' Ambition Conference, RAGA, Dr Adepeju Oti, described Iyalaje Oodua, Princess Toyin Kolade as a veritable woman of grace who is an asset to the womenfolk.
Dr Oti said she was impressed by the prompt response of Iyalaje Oodua to all the requests of GYLGF not only to be a guest of honour but serve as a pillar of support for the event.
Dr Oti said " Iyalaje Oodua is not just a mere successful entrepreneur but a patriotic, brilliant and intelligent lady who comprehends, understands and appreciates the issues battling the Girl- Child and who is ready to collaborate with supporting institutions to an end this. She is just awesome "
In her goodwill speech, Iyalaje Oodua, Princess Toyin Kolade, commended GYLGF for its consistency at organising Raise Girl's Ambition, RAGA, Conference for the past six years and expressed her readiness to be associated with the vision of the organisation
In the speech delivered on her behalf by Miss Temidayo Aboderin, CEO, Repgist tv. Iyalaje disclosed that her survival as a child - the girl was based on her belief that " whatever a man can do, a lady can also do and do better '
She said ' While growing, many said I was a girl who lived in a man's world because the word impossibility never exist in my dictionary. I am a woman of possibilities; who can achieve any set goals. I try as much as possible not to box myself up with the stereotype surrounding the female gender. I try my possible best to shatter stereotypes to achieve my goals in life. This and much more further set my foot on the path of greatness and has also made me the woman I am today
Iyalaje Oodua called on parents to give quality education to the Girl- Child not at the expense of the male child and vice - versa adding that a child is a child no matter the sex.
Iyalaje Oodua pointed out' Education is the greatest asset a woman can have either formal or
informal. Education is light and availing the girl child the opportunity to education is raising a promising generation because knowledge is passed from one generation to the other.
I want to implore our parents to make sure our children have access to quality education."
She revealed that ' In other to achieve my dream of reducing the illiteracy rate among children, many children have benefited from my educational scholarship scheme and more will still benefit from it as long as I live."
Iyalaje Oodua promised that " I will try my best to make sure I invest my resources and time for the upliftment of the girl-child"
