NATIONAL COMMISSION FOR MUSEUM AND MONUMENTS DEDICATES HALL TO ALADO OF ADO AWAYE
The National Commission
for Museum and Monuments, at this year's event marking International Day for Museum and Heritage Site celebration which took place at National Museum Center Aleshinloye, Ibadan,Oyo State, honoured Alado of Ado Awaye Land with the unveiling of the Hall of National Museum of Unity dedicated to him, in recognition of his immense contributions to the development of tourism in Ado Awaye Land ,Oyo state,and by extension Nigeria as a whole.
In his opening address at the occasion,the Director General of National Commission for Museum and Monuments, Professor Abba Isa Tijani ably represented by
the Curator of National Museum of Unity, Aleshinloye Ibadan,Oyo State,Mrs Parmela Oriyomi Otuka , said and as quoted"the Commission has decided to dedicate the Hall of National Museum of Unity, Ibadan, to Alado of Ado Awaye by naming it Alado of Ado Awaye Hall in recognition of his noble contributions to the development of tourism in Ado Awaye, Oyo state,and Nigeria as a whole
.This is just a tip of an iceberg considering the performances of His Royal Majesty in the upliftment of tourism industry as evidence in promoting Iyake Suspended lake and other tourism attractions on Ado mountain tourism center,Ado Awaye, Oyo state, ".She therefore,congratulated His Royal Majesty and the entire people of Ado Awaye and Iseyin Local Government for the deserved honour bestowed on the monarch
.Mrs Parmela further advised the good people of Ado Awaye to continue supporting His Royal Majesty in his drive to developing the community through tourism
Speaking further,"in line with global best practices,the NCMM has institutionalized the integration of political, traditional and religious bodies in the management of heritages and assets to foster a common understanding in the conservation and management of these properties in the face of conflicting interest among the stakeholders."
The Chairman of the occasion,who is also the Director of DAVRI, Nigeria,Dr Adebimpe Aderonmu, commended the management of National Commission for Museum and Monuments,the Curator of National Museum of Unity, Ibadan,Ado Awaye Tourism Heritage Development Initiative (ATHID), for putting this great event together
According to him,"it is a strategic approach to sustainable inclusion of critical stakeholders in development practice and a commitment towards the actualisation of Agenda 2030 that deserves accolade."
The erudite researcher said further that,
"the awesome of God seen manifest on Ado mountain is uniquely multidimensional to charaterise it as a heritage that is both natural and cultural.The existence of never-dry suspended lake on Ado mountain is a mystery . It is beyond a monument that symbolizes the memory of the past with a great significant to the future, but also an asset and resource of great developmental importance".
Dr.Aderonmu stated further that, Alado's domain and action in tradition would remain as rich content in history,as the unveiling of Alado of Ado Awaye Hall in recognition of the contributions of His Royal Majesty,Oba Rev'd Ademola Olugbile Folakanmi,to tourism development is on its own historical.
He concluded his address by congratulating His Royal Majesty and entire people of Ado Awaye kingdom on the honour bestowed on the monarch
Responding at the occasion after the unveiling of the hall, the Alado of Ado Awaye Land, His Royal Majesty,Asoludero,Oba Rev'd Ademola Olugbile Folakanmi,Odubade I, Makuledoye II, gave glory to God for counted him worthy of honour in this magnitude among several royal fathers in the state. In addition to this, he sincerely appreciated the authority of the National Commission for Museum and Monuments for the honour.
According to Alado, "This honour is deeply appreciated and it will spur me to be doing more for the industry.
Kabiesi Alado said further that, "dedicating this hall to Alado of Ado Awaye has been seen as a rare privilege and an opportunity to making the hall to serve as booking office for tourists across the globe who may be planning a visit to Iyake Suspended lake tourism centre, Ado Awaye."
He, therefore, used the avenue to charge the federal and state governments to look towards the direction of the tourism industry as a way of generating more revenue into the covers of governments.
Stressing that Iyake Natural Suspended Lake at Ado Awaye has the potential of contributing greatly to the gross domestic product of the nation if probably developed into a global tourism attraction centre of good status.
In his goodwill message, the South-West NTDC Coordinator, Mr Rotimi Oduntan congratulated His Royal Majesty Oba, Rev'd Ademola Olugbile Folakanmi on the merited honour.
Mr Ayetan said, "We are not surprised by this honour given the performances of Oba Folakanmi in tourism promotion since he ascended the throne of his forebears a few years ago."
He, therefore prayed for an elongated reign on the throne.
Also, Chief Soladoye Adewole, Amb Wale Ojo Lanre, former SSA, to the Governor of Ekiti State on Tourism Development, and Prince Tunde Odunlade, Mr in a separate capacity equally congratulated His Royal Majesty for the honour and they all appreciated the authority of National Commission for Museum and Monuments for the unique gesture.
The event was concluded with a presentation of the Award of Excellence to the DG National Commission for Museum and Monuments, Professor Abba Isa Tijani by Alado of Ado Awaye Land.
Dignitaries at the event were; traditional rulers from Oke -Ogun, such as Aare of Ago-Aare, Eleyinpo of Ipapo, Aare of Ofiki, Alageere of Ago-Aare, Oniserin of Iserin -Ile, Chief Iyiola Oladokun, Hon. Dele Adeola, Alado in Council, Alhaji Alade Bello, Mrs Erelu Rotiba. Others were; representatives from the Ministry of Information Culture and Tourism and Iseyin Local Government, Chief Soladoye Adewole, Chief Awoniran John Jacob, Chief Oladokun Oyeladun, Mr Bashiru Adetunji, Mr Awodele, Also in attendance were; officers of NANTA, Association of Nigeria Authors
