Proactive. Creativity.Thinking out of the box. Business unusual. These are the elements of engagement for whoever desires to offer the world a unique perspective in any area of endeavour particularly in the tourism sector which has not enjoyed purposeful attention from Nigeria and Nigerians.
These are what Alhaji Nura Sani Kangiwa, Director-General, National Institute of Hospitality and Tourism, NIHOTOUR, have brought to play in his stride at selling Nigeria to the world via the Gastronomic Festival- branding of Nigerian menus and cuisines for domestic appreciation and international acceptance, held today at the Abuja International Conference Centre. Abuja, FCT.
The 2023 Gastronomic Festival was not just a food festival for the fun of it but a Nigerian festival of food which emphasized hygienic preparation, standard in production and professionalism at service delivery.
The presentation of the food runways was based on the six - geopolitical zones of the country with each parade over 50 food items which guests and participants had free choice
Most interesting and exciting is the noticeable presence of some African and foreign countries that gleefully showcased their culinary items too.
This an indication that NIHOTOUR'S GASTRONOMIC FESTIVAL is a window not only to showcase Nigerian foods for global attention but to serve as an avenue of letting Nigerians taste intercontinental cuisines in a convivial, cultural, artistic and entertainment atmosphere.
A signpost of Nigeria taking giant steps and creating a reservation at the world's food tourism platform.
This a welcome advancement in the tourism sector and an assurance that Tourism has a lot to offer Nigeria and Nigerians.
Signed
Wale Ojo -Lanre
