Erelu Bisi Fayemi! What did I do to deserve this treatment? Why?
Erelu Bisi Fayemi! What did I do to deserve this treatment? Why?
I am still at a
loss why the wife of Ekiti State Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi should on the 9th day of September 2019 exactly three years now treat me to this.
At least, I was on my way to the Nigerian Law School in April, Yola, when I got to Abuja and Remi Ladoye, publisher of Insight Online Newspaper called to inform me that my name is in the news as the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr John Kayode Fayemi has appointed me as the Director - General, Ekiti State Council for Arts and Culture.
Shocked, I went to my friend, Wole Oladimeji, who was then the CPS to Rt Hon Lasun, Deputy Speaker, Federal House of Representatives.
After a deep discussion with him and a telephone conference with my family, Moyo and the children, I was advised to return to Ado from Abuja to commence work immediately as the appointment was an honour which I must not turn down
They decided that I should defer the Law School admission and that I should notify also the great Lead City University.
All I did
Upon these, I resumed as the Director-General, Ekiti State Council for Arts and Culture with all the energy God has given me
But I was shocked on the 9th day of September 2019 when I received a call from the Mother - General herself calling me to see her at the Governor's House, Oke Ayoba.
A befitting house built by Dr John Kayode Fayemi during his First time some gullible people believed that whoever rules Ekiti State does not deserve to sleep under a nice roof!
I searched my conscience why the call from the ever-busy and proactive wife of Dr Kayode Fayemi.
I summoned courage of faith because free conscience has no guilty liability.
Off I went to Oke Ayoba only for the wife of the Governor to mete out this to me.
9 September 2019 I got a gift from Erelu Bisi Fayemi today.
A symbolic gift from Erelu Bisi Fayemi - Adeleye!
If no one congratulates me
I congratulate myself
For having the singular honour
To be presented with a gift
Not by any person or persons
But by the first mother of Ekiti State
Erelu Bisi Fayemi
Who in her wisdom and robust
Appreciation of Arts and Culture
Handed over to me a gift
On Ayoba Hill
The resplendent Governor House
Not of money which may fizzle out in a moment
Not of a bale of cloth which may be out of vogue soonest
Not of a car which will be consuming my little resources for maintenance
But of an inestimable work of Arts
A symbolism of one of the cultural heritage of
Ekiti
A tradition rooted in our history
Which depicts Ekiti as the land of honour
Ile Uyi, Ile eye
Composed of hardworking people
Who has been in the tradition of weaving mat
An indigenous occupation
An artistic profession
Native to Ekiti
It is a product out of Ekiti
Made in Ekiti
By an Ekiti lady
One of the indigenous industries
Our traditional profession
Mat weaving -Eniore
From Ogotun, Ipoti
The beautiful mat.
Bounded with a frame
As a gift for me
Made yesterday
One of my finest moments on the face of the Earth
Craftwork which its worth cannot be quantified
To Erelu
I am not ungrateful!
Thank you, Ma!
.........
And if you are angry with me
Come and beat me in Usi Ekiti
